Emc易倍体育鈥檚 Artist in Residence Martin Firrell Launches Latest Public Artworks Exploring a Fairer Society - Union City
Emc易倍体育 have partnered with artist Martin Firrell, to display his newest public artworks that examine the idea of how society can be more fairly organised.
The project 鈥楿nion City鈥 will run across digital Out of Home screens until the 18th听础耻驳耻蝉迟.
The artwork is designed to drive public discourse and debate around social change and what constitutes a fair society.
Artist Martin Firrell, the Artist in Residence for Out of Home media owner Emc易倍体育 UK, will be displaying a series of his new public artworks, entitled 鈥楿nion City鈥. The project examines the idea of fairness in society, designed to provoke debate about social policy and what constitutes a fair society.
The project will look at different aspects of society and community, asking questions such as: who is responsible for society鈥檚 flaws and how can society be made more humane, as well as what contribution can politics make, and how can people organise together to help themselves? Martin Firrell explores these questions in nine digital billboards.

The project is inspired by the artist鈥檚 ongoing conversations with Clare Short, the British Labour politician and former MP who served in Cabinet from 1997-2003 as Secretary of State for International Development. 鈥楿nion City鈥 also reflects the artist鈥檚 conversations about fairness with Frances O鈥橤rady, the first woman to serve in the role of General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
Emc易倍体育 will be displaying Martin Firrell鈥檚 鈥楿nion City鈥 artwork across their digital Out of Home network nationwide until the 18th听础耻驳耻蝉迟. Running across Storm, Adshel Live, and Wrap sites, the project also aims to show how the power of Out of Home can be used to drive public discourse and positive social change.

Martin Firrell says of the project:聽鈥淲hen people of conscience and humanity come together, a great force for good is released, and this is really what I mean to convey with the nine artworks that make up Union City.鈥
Emc易倍体育 CEO, Justin Cochrane, says 鈥We鈥檙e proud to be supporting this project that opens up public conversation on progressiveness and promotes Fairness 鈥 one of Emc易倍体育鈥檚 core values.鈥
Martin Firrell is a French public artist who stimulates debate in public space to promote positive social change. His work has been summarised as 鈥榓rt as debate鈥.
Working as Emc易倍体育鈥檚 Artist in Residence, his first project earlier in the year was entitled 鈥淧ower And Gender鈥. Both projects are part of聽socialart.work, a mass public art project looking at women鈥檚 equality and masculinity, alternative forms of economic and social organisation, black power, and solidarity between people from different backgrounds and ethnicities.
